An Invitation to Love

Move beyond veils of illusion

Often, the search for deeper meaning can be superseded by a tumultuous event of the sorts that totally shatters your world-view. It gets you thinking, perhaps spiraling, in a vortex of thoughts.

And in our search for truth we often find ourselves clouded by conditioned belief structures that may, or may not, serve our highest interest. How we perceive the world, and all that’s in it, is largely shaped by external influences: our environmental upbringing — when and where we grew up, ingrained beliefs from childhood and early adolescence, the experiences molding our understanding of right vs. wrong and how the world works, and much more. We lose sight of who we really are and cling onto a false-identity of self that is rooted in heedlessness. Until we are shaken up. Softly, or violently. We are shaken up, and nothing will ever be the same again. Because something changed. Something very deep within, shifted. And knows better. It is this deeper knowing that I speak of today.

From the Breath of the All-merciful, all ‘things’ become manifest(1). If this singular Truth hits home, it will all start to make sense. Until then, the entrapment of delusion and the clinging onto suffering is bound to take hold. Your heart is longing, but you may not be aware of what it’s really longing for. It is not outside circumstances that derail you. It’s the raging war within…

He loves you very much. He is the only constant. Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He. God, unknown to us in essence, but revealed through attributes manifest in form. Every ‘thing’, is an aya, a (sign).

I will close this invitation with words for reflection: between the two fingers of Ar-Rahman, your heart belongs(2).

You have been invited to meet

the Friend.

No one can resist a Divine Invitation.

That narrows down all our choices.

to just two:

We can come to God

dressed for dancing.

Or

be carried on a stretcher

to God’s Ward.                                            – Hafiz
